The City of Cedar Rapids has received a new Petersen Lightning Loader grapple loader. The Lightning Loader, manufactured by Petersen Industries, and purchased from Mid-Iowa Solid Waste Equipment in Des Moines, is a chassis-mounted loader system that is designed to pick up oversized waste items like brush, logs, furniture and  appliances.
The Petersen Lightning Loader is a versatile unit that can be used for many applications. It can pick up almost anything, and can be used for everyday waste pickup and to clean up storm/flood damage. The truck is operated by one person, but does the job of a team, loading, hauling and dumping trash.
